How to Style a Console Table
Published: February 24th, 2020

We all know that first impressions are significant. The entryway is the first
interaction your guests have with your design style. Which is the reason why
styling your console table ought to be your priority whether you've recently moved in or have been peering at that vacant space in your home. A
faultlessly styled console table polishes off an anteroom or lobby with a
flourish.
Styling the console table is a great way to play with your favourite artwork and
accent pieces. Some of our favourite style tips are as follows:
Décor or storage: The first step towards ensuring a perfectly styled console
table is to decide its purpose. Do you want it to be a functional piece that is
used daily for storing your keys, mail, and other items? Or as a design piece
to highlight the aesthetic tone of your décor. This will help you decide if you
want some baskets for storage on the lower shelf, drawers, extra seating, etc.
Keep it simple and classy: One does not need too many elements to achieve
a stylish result. A cluttered or busy console table looks untidy. Using just a few
décor accents can create the desired look. Sometimes it is good to add some
negative space for a more impactful look.
Create an Anchor: Choose a bold statement piece that could be a dramatic
mirror, or artwork, or even a clock and place it above the console table. This
heavy object will center the table and act as a visual anchor by elevating the
top and pulling it all together.
Add height: Adding objects of varying heights like candles and vases on the
console table creates visual interest and a bit of drama.
Ground the bottom: The space between the console table and the ground can
sometimes look empty. One can ground the base of an open console with
more substantial items in order to adjust the visual weight
Light it up: Adding a lamp on the console table not only adds height, but also
another layer of light to give it an extra cozy lighting effect to the space.
Layer in Colours and Texture: Once you have the main elements, it's time to
add in some colour and texture! You can add a layer with either a stack of
books, a sculpture, trays, bowls, boxes, bookends, greenery, floral stems, or
any other objects that you love. Keep the colour monochromatic or add a pop
of colour.
Stand back and enjoy the effect of your décor style!
